Bwahahaha.... 4 years later....

I don't know that I have let go of my occasionally bitter and despairing mindset, but I have made salve, grown my own vegetables, made some freaking fantastic night time facial oil and let my hair grow out. Guess what. I am glad I did.

Despite my previous mindset, we have three times had my son injected with ten huge needles of botox to help hime stretch his muscles, started acupunture and chiropractic care as well as out usual summer of conductive education and home stretching and yoga. Yes, I am glad I did, but it was a hard decision.

For years we have resisted a feeding tube. I make my own organic, gluten, soy  and daiy free high protein shakes, but it is still not enough. We may and most likely will get a feeding tube this fall. I hope I will be glad I did.

Around the house

No home is complete without museum putty, duct tape and industrial strength velcro. Especially if you have kids with special needs; run, don't walk, to the hardware store to get yours now. You'll be glad you did.

Starting Out...

This year, my resolution was to let go of my sometimes bitter and oppressed mindset. My plan is to be fully satisfied with my life, without caveat or worry about my special needs child, or money or any other thing. Well, to quote I forget who, "It ain't easy, but you'll be glad you did." This blog is a start in that direction, a reminder of how many great things I get to experience. I often thought I wanted to start a cookbook called You'll Be Glad You Did, and some of the recipes that would appear there will appear here, along with many other things you'll be glad you did. Sometimes my entries will be short (with absolutely no recipes) and sometimes they will be long. For now, I have three things for you:
  1. Subscribe to Good Magazine; you'll be glad you did.
  2. Eat slices of honeycrisp apple with very thin slices of goat's milk gouda; you'll be glad you did.
  3. Let your kid (or a kid, or hey just do it yourself, it's pleasing) pour baking soda and vinegar down your kitchen drain and bathroom drains; your drains will run faster, smell better and the two of you will enjoy it. You'll be glad you did.
